The short version

Stranger Dare is a local-first app. Your stories, recordings, coins, city, and stats live on your device and nowhere else. We run no servers and keep no accounts.

What stays on your phone

Everything you create in the app: logged conversations, names and details you choose to save, voice recordings and their transcripts, coins, decorations, bingo progress, and settings. None of it is uploaded, synced, or visible to us.

Microphone and speech recognition

Recording only happens when you press the record button, and iOS asks for your permission first. Transcripts are generated on your device using Apple's speech recognition. Recordings and transcripts are stored only on your phone and can be deleted by deleting the entry.

What leaves your phone

Two things, both started by you: feedback you submit through the in-app form (sent to a form endpoint we read), and, on this website, an email address you give the waitlist. That is the complete list.

Analytics and tracking

The app contains no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking.

Deleting your data

Delete an entry in the app to remove it and its recording. Delete the app to remove everything. Because we hold no copies, there is nothing for us to delete on our end.
